Cargo tonnage at Miami International airport was up slightly for the first 10 months of 2013. Total tonnage was 1.72 million tonnes, a 0.68-percent increase over the same period in 2012. If this increase percentage remains steady for the remainder of the year, it will set a new cargo record for the airport, according to the Florida Foreign Trade Association.

Both deplaned and emplaned domestic cargo are below the same 10-month period in 2012. Emplanned tonnage for October 2013 was up by 2 percent over October 2012. International deplaned cargo was up 5.72 percent for the 10-month period while emplaned cargo was down by 3.29 percent.

Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, N.C., also reported a slight rise in cargo through October. The 10-month total of 164.5 million tonnes is up nearly 1.9 percent over the same period in 2012. For October, cargo was up 0.26 percent over October 2012.
